UK gaming market reaches giant heights with Nintendo Wii being the King

UK gaming industry has always been interesting for years now and here comes the astonishing fact – despite the recession hit world economies, UK gamers continue to be on a roll! To everyone’s amazement, last year 2008 was a history in the UK gaming industry as the market worth of this industry crossed a whopping GBP 4 billion.

To this, software comprised for almost half of the figure that comes to GBP 1.905 billion with game sales up by 23% compared to 2007. And then there is this hardware sales that too skyrocketed 14% to GBP 1.422 billion. But one player that stealth the show was Nintendo Wii with its outstanding and amazing wii games.

Here are some of the facts that are hard to ignore - Nintendo had a fabulous year in the UK with the Wii accounting for nearly 25% of all software sales (around 20 million units). This was up a rather impressive 153% on 2007. Revenue from Wii game sales was GBP 481 million. This is the same revenue figure as the DS, which sold just over 19 million units – a rise of 28 per cent.

It will be interesting to see as to what heights Nintendo Wii touches in 2009 then. Just wait and watch guys!

Now a days Nintendo Wii games become a very popular in UK gaming market. There are many people like to play the different Wii games. Wii sold the 25% software in UK.
